This game can be played with dice or playing cards. You also need a pad of paper and a pencil. Players each roll one die. They then multiply the numbers together as quickly as they can and write the product on the piece of paper. If both players are correct, they each score 1 point. If only one player is correct, only that player scores a point. If neither player is correct, no one scores a point.
Arrays
For this game, you need a piece of grid paper, 2 dice and coloured pencils. Each player rolls the dice. He then colours in the "array" on the grid paper and writes the math fact inside the array. Players keep playing until there is no more space on the grid for an array.
Number Heads
Goal: Find the missing multiplier. This game requires 3 players and a deck of cards. Deck should be adjusted for the level of proficiency (ie remove certain cards). RULES: Deal the deck facedown to 2 players. Players cannot look at their cards. The third player (caller) sits between the others and must be able to see the cards. Players one and two put a card to their forehead, facing the opposite player. The caller says the product of the multiplication. The other players try to figure out which card in on their forehead. The player who guesses correctly the quickest wins the cards. Alternate Caller after every 10th play. ALTERNATIVE: This game can also be played with addition facts.
Division Games
Crazy Birds--Three In A Row
Found this one on Teachers Pay Teachers for free! Created by Teresa Evans @ Games4Learning, Crazy Birds has students looking for number strings for division (36 - 9 - 4, which can be read 36 divided by 9 equals 4) on a grid. It is sort of like a word search. There is some prep involved, as you have to create the grid for the game. This one is great for practising those tricky facts!
Each player uses a different coloured pencil. Players take turns finding division equation by colouring in the squares. Once a square has been coloured in, it cannot be used again. The winner is the player who has the most colour on the page!
